Updated 2026-10-29 · 5 sources · status lights show our latest check

.io games are browser multiplayer games often named for the .io domain they live on.[1] The genre took off after Matheus Valadares released Agar.io on April 28, 2015[2] and Steven Howse released Slither.io on March 25, 2016;[3] from mid-2016 a wave of similar games followed.[1] Wikipedia lists ZombsRoyale.io, Mope.io, Surviv.io, Shellshock.io, Paper.io, Deeeep.io, Hole.io, Snake.io and Krunker.io among the notable games of 2016–2020,[1] and notes the genre surged again during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021.[1]

This is every .io-wave game we track that hasn't closed (55 in total), grouped by type. We don't rank them by invented player counts; the status light shows whether the official site answered our last check, and where a game's homepage spells out its controls we quote them. Surviv.io itself was sunset in 2023 and relaunched by Kongregate in March 2026;[5] fan recreations Survev.io and Suroi are listed below.
